Owned by the Ohio-based E.W. Scripps Company, the Knoxville News-Sentinel has been the only full-coverage daily newspaper in Knoxville since the close of its one-time rival, the Knoxville Journal.

Coverage includes stories on local and outside news, sports, family, business and other subject matter.

The Knoxville News Sentinel was founded in December 1886 as the Sentinel. In November 1926 the Knoxville News acquired the newspaper and the first edition of The Knoxville News-Sentinel appeared on November 21, 1926.
